Salmon fishing
The Tana River system is famed far and wide for its large numbers
of salmon. It is reckoned to be one of the best salmon-rivers in
the country. The inn is on its very shores, so you can go straight
on board our riverboats. Oarsmen and guides who know the locality
extremely well will pick you up and take you to good places to fish.
We will set you up with fishing licences, about, oarsmen and, of
course, provisions if you're going "into the river" as
we say around these parts.
You should bring your own fishing tackle.
Book in advance.
Period: 20 June - 20 August
Tana Fjord cruise
The Tana Fjord is full of fish, and not just salmon. We have agreements
that allow us to take small and large groups at fishing. Perhaps
as a cruise in the midnight sun? We have one boat that will take
8-10 people and one that takes as many as 56 people. Under way we
prepare the fish that have been brought up from the deep. Unique
to Tana is the fishing of Kamtsjatka crabs, which are caught in
traps - and our agreements allow us to take part in this fishing.
If we catch crabs we boil them and eat them - together with other
delicacies from the sea. It is possible to rent sea fishing tackle
and insulated clothing if necessary.
Fisher kings and queens will be chosen.
Book in advance.
Period: 20 June - late September
Sailing trip in a Nordland boat
The roots of the Nordland boat can be traced back to the illustrious
ship constructions of the Vikings. They were built along the entire
coast, primarily for fishing. They have all the qualities the Arctic
Ocean demand of a boat - and its crew. These boats as still built
and used today. We offer you the possibility to join us on a cruise
in this unique vessel, with an experienced skipper at the helm.
Just think of a midnight sun cruise and cooking your own catch on
the beach.
Book in advance.
Period: July - 15 September
Canoeing on the Tana River
For those who wish to go out onto the Tana River on their own, boats
are available for rent. The river is calm, so you can allow the
quiet to sink in, interrupted only by the paddles meeting the surface
of the water as you glide gently down the river. Let your thoughts
roam free.
Period: July and August
Guided mountain hikes
If you would like to go hiking on the plateau we can organise this
for you. There are several enticing fishing waters in the area,
so we recommend you bring your fly fishing tackle with you. We arrange
guides who will lead you to the places and lakes in the area most
worthy of a visit. The guide knows his local history and knows where
to light a fire. The duration of the height is agreed in advance.
Necessary food for the trip can also be provided.
