Salmon fishing
The Neiden River is one of Norway's best salmon fishing rivers,
although it is also excellent for catching other types of fish such
as sea trout, trout, grayling and pike. From the time the first
Englishmen "discovered" the river, anglers from all over
the world have visited the Neiden River. The fishing season is from
1 June - 13 August. We rent out riverboats, sell fishing licences
and can arrange for local expertise if necessary. However, we can
also provide a full package, including accommodation in huts or
a tent, all local transport, food and a guide/oarsman on the river.
Please contact us for prices of the individual services or for a
tailor-made salmon fishing experience. We guarantee full service
on our part and hope the salmon do the same.
Sale of fishing licences
Neiden mountain lodge has a co-operation agreement with Finnmark
State Forest. We sell fishing licences for fishing in inland waters
as well as the obligatory state licence. We also sell fishing licences
for the Neiden River and carry out disinfection of fishing tackle
to prevent the spread of fish diseases.
Ice fishing
Neiden lodge has more than 20 years of experience arranging
ice fishing trips. Our mountain cabins and tents are situated very
close to excellent fishing waters containing big fish. The ice-fishing
season begins when the waters ice over in the early winter, ending
well into May, depending on when spring arrives. The fish you can
expect to catch include Arctic charr, trout, grayling, perch, pike
and burbot. The nearest fishing lake is only two to three km from
the lodge, making it ideal for a day trip on skis. You can also
scheme from one cabin to another in the mountains and stop to fish
on the way. We can help you to organise your trip. If you have your
own snowmobile you can drive along the marked snowmobile track to
the lake and to some of our mountain cabins. We can also help you
to hire a snowmobile or drive you into the mountains on our own
snowmobile taxi. For foreign visitors the lodge has its own extended
area which reaches more than 50 km into the mountains and encompasses
more than 100 fishing lakes. If you wish we can organise an entire
fishing trip with overnight accommodation, food, transport and guides,
so that all you need to bring with you is your own personal equipment
and tackle.
Sea fishing/Arctic Ocean safari trips
In the summer and also you can also join one of our boat trips
on the Fjord. Try fishing for cod, coalfish (pollack), wolffish
or halibut and many other species in the Arctic Ocean. You're bound
to catch something and if you're especially lucky you will strike
big. But you can never be sure what will come up from the deep when
you get a bite. It won't necessarily be a fish; it could also be
a king crab the size of a horse. Along the fjord there are also
bird cliffs, archaeological sites, Sami sacrificial sites, as well
as military installations from World War II. A visit to the fishing
village of Bugøynes is an absolute must. We can also arrange
an overnight stop, sleeping in a tent on a beach or island, so that
you can experience the sunset and watch it rise again from the sea.
Mountain hikes
Using the mountain lodge as a base, you can set up on foot in
the summer and autumn, or on skis in the winter and experience untouched
scenery. And plenty of grilled fish on the way! In Neiden mountain
lodge has six well-equipped cabins with saunas in the mountains
and on the plateau which can sleep 4-5 people each. If you want
to hunt game, the cabins lie in superb grouse country. We will gladly
assist you in working out a hiking route or organise your trip for
you.
Guided hunting, fishing and hiking trips
in the mountains and on the plateau
The lodge arranges hunting fishing trips for small groups of
up to 7 people. The trips include guides, all food, transport to
the mountains, overnight accommodation in cabins and tents and all
local transport by car. All you need to do is to arrive at the airport
with your own personal equipment. If you want to go of fishing or
hunting on your own we can of course help you to plan your trip
so you can get the best possible fishing and hunting.
The Storlávvu experience
In the lodge's big tent, the storlávvu, we can
serve Sami dishes and give you are an insight into east Sami customs,
culture and traditions as well as an unforgettable experience. Here
you will experience east Sami joiking, at presentation of traditional
costumes and *katrill dancing. We have booked the storlávvu
in advance, and it can seat up to 80 people. You can also rent the
lávvu for other arrangements, such as wedding parties,
birthday celebrations or the merry company of good friends and family.
Activities for snowmobile safari groups
From the Finnish snowmobile track network you can drive out
to the Arctic Ocean on Norwegian paths, and in the other direction
from Norway deep into the Finnish forests. The mountain lodge is
the first place you meet when you come over the Finnish border.
We provide information for snowmobile tourists, sell snowmobile
path maps and guide you if you wish safely to the Arctic Ocean.
We can also offer you quite an experience out at sea on our boat.
This will give you the possibility to get way out to the open ocean
and experience it at first hand. On this trip you can try swimming
in a survival suit, have a go at fishing and perhaps see the world's
biggest crab. A break for a hot lunch and a rest on the beach is
also part of the trip. The duration of these trips is about 4-5
hours and they are suitable for small groups of a minimum of 4 people
and 8 at the most.
