Jergul Asttu is a traditional Sami mountain lodge, or fjellstue
. The old lodge, built in 1928, is still standing. At the
same time, the place has adapted to the demands made on modern hostel
and eating facilities. The lodge is in the small village of Jergul,
about 40 km from Karaasjok on the way to Kautokeino. This is a place
you go to for peace and quiet, and it is a place where people come
to be together and have done for years.
The lounge, with its open fireplace, looks out onto the riverboats
lying at anchor on one bank of the Iesjoka, a river with a variety
of activities to offer. This is a fine river for boating, be it
by riverboat or canoe and there are plenty of fish to catch. You
will enjoy Jergul, which has easy access to the mountains as well
as the surrounding fishing waters. In addition, it is not far from
Karasjok with all the sights that town has to offer. Its facilities
make Jergul the perfect place for conferences and meetings, which
can be combined with a menu of summer or winter activities. This
is where you should make a stop, here you should stay.
Jergul Asttu has rooms with AV-equipment and stylish huts
with an overall capacity of 35 beds. Your host, Toralf, will serve
the traditional Sami fare of your choice. His establishment is also
fully licensed and can serve whatever drinks you want.
